Et·ce·te·ra·ta (etse’tərä‘tə)
n.
1. The list of items implied but not specifically named, included/excluded by the use of the term etc.
2. A collection of incidental texts & fragments.
“THERE are three guides for the life of man. First is principle, which has been long and carefully tested; the second is experience, strengthened by long practice; and third, the authority of those ancients who could not have been easily deceived by anyone, and who appear not to have wished to deceive others. Attend more to what a man has done than to what he has said, for many speak well but few act well.”
“The best principle for living is to think, and to do your utmost to live in harmony with the mind, for this is to live for ever and to live happily. For it is in the mind that stability and peace are found.”
Marsilio Ficino [1433 – 1499]
Hi Stuart,
Just having a quick look round the site. Is there a way for you to put up your About so it’s not right at the very left-hand edge of the frame? Even though I can read it, it gives the visual impression of being ‘cut off’.
Cheers, A.
Hi Amanda,
Thanks for dropping in
yeah I’ll see what I can do with that.
Best,
Stu
Hi Stu,
It’s looking good. Love the picture of the flower with the dagger pin. Where can I get one? :^)
Cheers,
Amanda
Pick something from my garden anytime your passing.
The dagger’s a bewt, exquisitely modelled 1918 Zeebrugge Raid veretans pin [family hand-down].

Stu
Hello, Orkneylad! Sorry not to be posting regularly, as I have tonnes of schtuff relating to workable strategies now for sticking steel rods into the spokes of the pedaled Cancun bicycle, three of which are as follows:
1. Threat to national sovereignty of the individual countries outed by Prof. Edenhoffer of Potsdam in Munich;
2. States’ rights in the USA being exercised as air permits are exclusively the desmesne of the individual states (Texas has already told EPA to go carbon itself LOL); and
3. The CFTC at CFTC.gov are pushing through uniform enforcement reg’s for what constitutes a legit carbon deal and it is turning into a funfest of turning over rocks and finding giant spiders and snakes. This is being done during the hearing process of the Dodd-Frank Act which is to serve as a global model once passed (all nations’ trading regimes are based on ours in the same way that currencies and tariffs are harmonized, more or less.
Have a look at the call for comments section for the carbon trading rules at http://www.CFTC.gov. These rules affect the future of the globe, so your input is important.
These guys are enforcers and lawgivers, so your standard high-minded civility is more than welcome here.
That idiot who wrote STFU after your comment on the Swami blog is a complete fool. That was the most tightly argued statement of wat constitutes the value of “conspiracy theory” research I have seen in print.
Take care! This weekend I should have some time free for this.
Great stuff B, I will certainly drop over to CFTC & have a butchers.
Best regards,
OL
Hi Stu,
Was just curious what ‘The Digital Glebe’ was so thought I would have a look!

Love the design you use in your site. Do you mind if I reference to this blog from my newsletter? Thanks.
No problem Jani.

Reading the article in the Telegraph, I was following the commentary, and have been delighted to stumble across the ‘Orkney Lad’ challenges to ‘accepted’ wisdom and now your website. What is presented is wonderfully simple and refreshing, a perfect foil for the scientific Establisment’s conventional ‘wisdom’ – and most thought-provoking.
I enjoyed too your comments on the ‘flat universe’ proposition. Doubtless you have seen George Smoot’s TED lecture some time back (http://www.ted.com/talks/george_smoot_on_the_design_of_the_universe.html).
Finally, I appreciated the summary by Dr. D E Scott. As you say, he expresses the problem perfectly.
Keep on pushing!
Regards
Matt.
Matt – Thanks, appreciate it.
hi Admin
Just read your ‘about’ for the first time. …..What a good one!
Haven’t done mine yet. I can’t top that…. It will have to be visual, and crap.
Thanks fen! Ficino is one of my heros.

Just read your article re Stronsay & Watkins , exactly confirms what i have found with 3 of my friends , we were waiting to see if he shows and starts touting for money. The desciples are supposed to be meeting in Helgis tonite awaiting the 2nd coming…he is supposed to be en route from Atlanta , hopefully read your tweets/posts and turned back. I still can’t believe JRS & others believed his tripe. You missed the one about buying 41/42 Cloth Fair [is on his facebook albums london townhouse] at 6 million quid last year , crap of course. We thought we were going mad here, thankyou for confirming our suspicions. Larry
Hey Larry, welcome & thanks for dropping by.
Thanks also for the heads-up on that, even my eagle eye can miss the odd grifter’s trick.
Hey There. I found your blog using msn. This is a very well written article. I will be sure to bookmark it and return to read more of About | The Digital Glebe . Thanks for the post. I’ll definitely return.
Good piece of info! I agree with that First is principle, which has been long and carefully tested; the second is experience, strengthened by long practice; and third, the authority of those ancients who could not have been easily deceived by anyone. these three is quite right. Love to read this new info. Thanks!!!
G’day Stu,
I only recently found this ‘About’ thread and I really like your Ficino post. My fave bit is …. “For it is in the mind that stability and peace are found.”
It’s been a timely reminder to me not to seek such equilibrium from external sources – because “many speak well but few act well.”
Thanks – you’re a scholar and a gentleman and one of the “few”.

“Quatuor vero sunt maxima comprehendendæ veritatis offendicula, quæ omnem quemcumque sapientem impediunt, et vix aliquem permittunt ad verum titulum sapientiæ pervenire: videlicet fragilis et indignæ auctoritatis exemplum, consuetudinis diuturnitas, vulgi sensus imperiti, et propriæ ignorantiæ occultatio cum ostentatione sapientiæ apparentis.” [Roger Bacon. (1267). Opus Maius.]
